## Give the scanner a readable label Good light and a clear image help recognition. Keep the barcode, ingredient list and allergen statement visible. Confirm that the recognised product is the product in your hand. ## Read the result, not just the colour A classification should be accompanied by its ingredient evidence and uncertainty. An unclear additive or flavouring can require clarification from the manufacturer. ## Vegan and allergy information answer different questions A product marked vegan can still contain allergens. Check the pack’s current ingredient and allergen statements for the person who will eat it. Packaging and formulations can change. ## Keep uncertain items uncertain Do not turn a missing ingredient list into a positive result. Record the uncertainty and verify it before using the ingredient in a recipe. ## Bring confirmed ingredients into your workflow Use the Pantry and product scanner visual guide beside the tool. Once you have confirmed ingredients, record them in your notes and use them as the starting point for the Recipe Lab. [Open the illustrated and narrated kitchen guides](/guides).
